Who We Are
African Resilience and Development Organization (ARDO) is an independent registered non-government and nonprofit civil society organization based in Somaliland. ARDO prime motto is capacity building and service delivery to the deprived and marginalized people of the society.
In 2017, A somali intellectual and development practitioner founded this organization as part of his effort in combating misery and vulnerability of Somali people, and strengthen their capacities to stand against shocks and improve their livelihoods as well. True to this spirit, the organization named African Resilience and Development Organization (ARDO).
Considering his association with the development and humanitarian sector, the founder was cognizant of the plethora of problems plaguing the country. Consequently, the organization’s focus was not kept limited either in terms of geography or sector.
Whilst operating in different districts of the country, ARDO has been carrying a range of interventions in the areas of education, health & WASH, youth & women empowerment, emergency response & preparedness, Climate change adaptation and Environmental resilience, Rural development and Agricultural programs, child protection, Micro-finance, Vocational training, Food security and livelihood and Advocacy and awareness raising etc.
The type of activities undertaken by the organization range from capacity building to service delivery, with focus remaining on the deprived and marginalized segments of the society. Whereas in terms of operations what characterizes ARDO’s functioning is its efforts to (a) enlist involvement of the locals when initiating activities at the grass root level
Although a somewhat new entry in the development arena, ARDO owing to the linkages of its members with national & international funding agencies enjoys a diverse portfolio, characterized by partnership with different organizations.

ARDO’s mission is to reduce the suffering of the somali’s most vulnerable groups and provide the tools and resources needed to increase their self-sufficiency.
